LEGISLATIVE NOTICE

Everyone is aware that Mike Doyle and Tony Bottalico are being compensated improperly by the MTA, including salary and benefits. This is an issue concerning the misuse of public funds, and also a violation of the Railway Labor Act, Section 2, Part 4. ACRE was formed with assistance from the MTA. The primary officers of ACRE were completely aware that ACRE could not be financially sustained through the collection of ACRE member's dues alone. Especially when you consider that ACRE officers are looking to be compensated in the $160,000.00 a year range and rent in the Graybar Building is around $130,000.00 a year. This salary structure and rent expense was never released to the membership during the promotion of ACRE in early 2000.

House Joint Resolution No.2 was passed last year in Congress. Language in this legislation denied the MTA the ability to compensate ACRE officers their salaries and benefits from Federal Funds. The MTA continues to provide Mike Doyle and Tony Bottalico a complete salary compensation package.

Bill A 9149 was introduced in the New York State Assembly and companion Bill S 6943 was introduced in the State Senate. This legislation will not allow the MTA to compensate any ACRE officer from any Federal or State fare box funds.

You can review these two Bills in the Legislative section of the MTAcre web site at www.mtacre.com (dated 4/26/2004 Bills A09149 and S06943).

Anyone in agreement with this legislation should contact his or her State Assemblyperson and request support for Bill A 9149. Also contact your State Senators to support Bill S 6943. Identify yourself as a constituent of your representative. The phone numbers for your representatives can be located in the Federal and State office section of your local phone book.
