Reality Concerning AFL-CIO Affiliation

ACRE claims: they have contacted the AFL-CIO state offices and is exploring the advantages and requirements of affiliating with the AFL-CIO. We have never heard back from the Executive Board concerning this affiliation.

Reality is: ACRE cannot affiliate with the AFL-CIO for several reasons.

First is the fact that grievances against the ACRE are on file with the International AFL-CIO from the BLE and the ATD.

Second is the AFL-CIO Constitution Article XIV, prevents the ACRE from application because ACRE has no International body.

Third is under the criteria section for issuing Charters to Independent Organizations, the ACRE has less than 20,000 members, which is the minimum requirement.

.

So the ACRE falls short in these three areas for membership. Review the attached AFL-CIO Constitution for details.
