Reality
concerning the merger between the LIRR and M-N
ACRE
claims: the proposed merger between the Long Island Railroad
and Metro-North Railroad is for management only. The unionized
workers and their perspective unions will not be affected.
Reality
is: the proposal submitted by the MTA last spring to the
New State Legislature is still being reviewed in Albany.
The Bill introduced by assemblymen Richard Brodsky for the
MTA's restructure was passed last June. Action is still
pending in the State Senate.
