Reality concerning that Metro-North is the only Railroad in America where ACRE could exist.

ACRE claims: we must remember that this is the only railroad in the United States that an association like ACRE could exist.

Reality is: Mike Doyle is correct. In the rarest of circumstances we have total agreement on an issue. Certainly no other railroad in the country has a situation remotely similar to the issues confronting ACRE members. Metro-North has a company supported and dominated union, complete with the primary officers being compensated by the carrier, in violation of the Railway Labor Act. ACRE's relationship with the MTA, excluding the compensation factor, predates the founding of the organization. During the several years prior to the promotion of ACRE, the foundation was laid between the MTA, Mike Doyle and Tony Bottalico to form ACRE.

Only on Metro-North could ACRE survive and prosper. On this property we have several union officers willing to compromise the integrity of their respective union positions to sell out their membership by entering into this type of negotiated arrangement with the MTA.

The word is out about ACRE. ACRE's sphere of influence has peaked. Mike Doyle was right about ACRE's ability to exist, it could only thrive on Metro-North. For once his veracity concerning an issue is unchallenged.

Note: It would not be fair to characterize all ACRE officers in a negative manner. Some ACRE officers do possess a genuine desire to provide proper service to the membership. Unfortunately, the three architects of this blight upon unionism, Doyle, Bottalico and Gaines, direct ACRE's policy.
