Dear
Brothers and Sisters:
Anticipating,
the behavior of ACRE, the interim officers of Local 77 instructed
the International to mail the "A" cards directly
to your homes. It is now apparent that our concerns have
been proven. Many members of ACRE think the officers of
ACRE are part of Metro-North Management and that they should
please ACRE and not risk getting a target on their back
or fired.
Do
you believe it is right that ACRE would suggest to anyone
to bring their mail to the ACRE office? Why would ACRE do
that? Does ACRE keep a record? Will ACRE treat one member
different from another based on personal opinion? Will ACRE
inform Metro-North management who is loyal or who is not
loyal?
This
intimidation is just one of the many reasons why we need
to sign the "A" and get back to a real union.
This ACRE leadership has led us out of an International
Union with a promise to reduce dues, negotiate a superior
contract and have "control" over our destiny.
Instead, our ACRE representatives get paid by the company,
did not deliver a reduction in dues and the only "control"
is ACRE intimidating members to bring their personal mail
to the ACRE office.
The
interim officers and members of UTU Local 77 are encouraging
you to show support for the future. We will structure our
local under a union that is national in scope. We will put
an end to the company owned association. We promise honest
representation with no intimidation. We promise total dedication
to idea of union. We will never turn our backs on the membership
for any reason. Entitlements under the contract will not
be held in escrow for favors and conditional loyalty. We
will do everything that is possible to overturn the injustice
of the past contract. Finally, we believe that withholding
certain information in the face of contract ratification
is a breach of duty and those responsible must be held accountable.
Fraternally
yours,
Kevin
A. O'Shea
Interim
General Chairman
