ACRE claims in their latest Newsletter dated Spring 2006, “In December 2005, the United States Department of Labor began a three week long forensic audit of the financial record keeping of local division 1. The reason for the audit was once again driven by complaints from UTU operatives working among us. They continue to fabricate one lie after the other about the integrity of the people you elect and trust.

The labor department was looking to see if any disbursements were made without the approval of the members or our bylaws. These disbursements would include salaries, lost time and every expense paid from your dues. They also audited every receipt of your dues to make sure that we properly deposited into union accounts. We are pleased to report to you that the United States Department of Labor found everything to be in order. They found the record keeping of Treasurer Mark Amorello to be of the highest quality and integrity. Mark has done a great job overseeing our budgets and books, his integrity is above reproach. Once again the UTU operatives working among us have shown their true lack of regard and respect for their fellow coworkers.

As usual, ACRE prints this misinformation without a single shred of proof or documentation to back up whatever they feel like putting into print or their creditability. ACRE claims this DOL investigation was driven by complaints from UTU operatives working among us. ACRE provides no proof what so ever of a single complaint to the DOL or names a single UTU operative. How did ACRE come to these conclusions? Are ACRE's worries based out of fear or are on the part of their imagination?

If an investigation by the DOL had begun in December and was concluded within three weeks, it would have been one of the DOL more expedient ventures. If there was an investigation by the DOL, then ACRE should release and provide all related correspondence from the DOL. ACRE should release the report sent by the DOL to ACRE supporting ACRE's claim that the DOL found everything to be in order and that the record keeping of Mark Amorello was of the highest quality and integrity. ACRE can not and will never release this report. Such a report does not exist. The DOL would never comment on the quality and integrity of a Treasurer.

ACRE could not believe the misinformation or lies circulated by their organization would not be exposed or go unchallenged. ACRE's intent for distribution of this misinformation is just to create confusion among the membership. This is their short-term goal. By the time the truth is revealed, ACRE has already moved on to their next misinformation campaign.

If ACRE fails to provide any proof concerning their claims and conclusions by the DOL, then this just shows their true lack of regard and respect for their fellow coworkers.
