Signing an A-card is Confidential

Since the beginning of the A-card campaign on Metro-North property, the most frequently asked question is “if I sign an A-card, will ACRE find out?” ACRE will not know if anyone signs an A-card, unless the person that signs an A-card informs ACRE that they signed an A-card.

The National Mediation Board (NMB) website contains information concerning the entire A-card process. In the representation Section, a person can review the Representation Manual. In Section 3.5, the Confidentiality of Authorization section (authorization is the complete term for the A-card) it explains that the signing of an A-card is confidential. The NMB website is located at www.nmb.gov .

If you receive an A-card, only you will know if you sign and return the A-card. Signing the A-card is not a vote for either the UTU, BLE&T or ACRE; it only states your intention to have a representation election and vote between ACRE and the Internationals.
