Beginning
with the promotion of ACRE, many promises have been made
and remain unfulfilled by the organization:
1.
During ACRE's promotion, it was not revealed to the members
that the primary officers would be paid by Metro North.
2.
ACRE claimed that by not sending the International dues
to Cleveland, the funds would remain and be used on the
property. The Division 1 bank balance announced at the January
meeting was $38,000.00. After six years of operation.
3.
ACRE promised a $5 dues reduction upon formation. Division
1 began with $133,000 left over from Local 77 accounts.
During the initial Division 1 meeting, Treasurer Mark Amorello
did not announce this beginning bank balance for Division
1. If he did, the members in attendance would have demanded
the promised $5 monthly dues decrease.
4.
Over the past six years ACRE has allowed the MTA to compromise
many of our work agreements.
5.
During the last contract negotiations, ACRE officers made
various statements about their goals for settlement, the
result was the worst contract in Metro North history.
This
is what the UTU will do for train service employees:
1.
All officers will be compensated by the members dues dollars
exclusively and an open election for all officers will be
held.
2.
Local 77 can operate more efficiently for less dues money
per month.
3.
The members of Local 77 will have a referendum vote on all
issues that affect the entire membership. New local by-laws
will be written.
4.
The UTU will work to restore agreements changed under ACRE's
operation.
5.
The UTU will cooperate with the LIRR UTU and the Metro North
Labor Coalition to obtain the best possible contract in
the next round of collective bargaining. This option is
not available to ACRE. Local 77's position in the next round
of collective bargaining will be ACRE over paid for their
contract and this overpayment will be addressed.
The
choice is yours, you can move forward in a progressive manner,
or retain an organization that routinely adopts the company
position on issues.
