The IBEW locals received
a call yesterday from Arthur Davidson. Speaking on behalf
of System Council 7 he provided an update concerning the
Metro-North contract negotiations.
Recently the IBEW
met with Labor Relations to discuss the .3% work rule changes
and the inflator associated with the 1.5% wage contribution
for Health and Welfare benefits. No ground was made on either
issue.
Ray Burney represented
Metro-North, as Mr. Delaverson is now preoccupied
with ongoing negotiations with TWU 100.
Concerning the work
rule changes Mr. Burney is now insisting on either:
A
Elimination of double time pay after 16 hours worked
B
Each employee gives back $608 in retro pay and gives up
the 30 year holiday
The IBEW stands firm
in its resolve not to give up double time pay nor do they
feel each employee should have to pay $608 back to the company.
"We are at a deadlock with MN at this time regarding the
.3%," said Davidson.
Likewise, there was
no agreement on the issue of the Health and Welfare inflator
factor. Mr. Davidson stated, "The Coalition is engaged in
ongoing discussions regarding these and other issues."
System Council 7
reassures the locals they will keep us informed as the situation
develops.
