Legislation has been introduced on behalf of disabled railroad workers.  HR 5483, the Railroad Retirement Disability Earnings Act has been introduced on a bipartisan basis by Chairman Don Young, R-AK; Ranking Member James Oberstar, D-MN; Steve LaTourette, R-OH, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Railroads and Rep.Corrine Brown, D-FL Ranking Member of the Subcommittee.

HR 5483, will increase the monthly earnings from the present $400 per month to $700 per month.  This also will include automatic yearly cost-of-living adjustments (COLA's) in the monthly earning limitations.  The yearly rate of increase would be the same as that for Social Security disability recipients.
